Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has been by far and away the best player in the Premier League this season. give him an average rating of 8.63, which is 0.84 better than his nearest rival in England's top-flight in 2013/14.

Even if the statistics didn't back him up, few could argue against the Uruguay international, who has scored a staggering 24 goals in just 23 league appearances this term.

The 27-year-old's season didn't start until mid-September remember, as he served the remainder of his 10-game Football Association ban for biting Branislav Ivanovic last year.

However, since his comeback, Suarez's form has been nothing short of sensational, and having established a prolific partnership alongside Liverpool team-mate Daniel Sturridge in attack, has helped propel Brendan Rodgers's side into Premier League title contention.

Like in any successful team, the South American can't take all the credit, though, with captain Steven Gerrard (7.73) and the aforementioned Sturridge (7.61) also proving instrumental at Anfield, and making it into Liverpool's top three players this season, while Martin Skrtel (7.44) is also statistically the best defender in the division in 2013/14.
