Arsenal favourites to land Robin van Persie

Arsenal have been elevated to strong favourites to complete the re-signing of Robin van Persie this summer, despite the increasing interest from overseas outfits.

Paddy Power have moved the Gunners to 2/1 to be the Dutchman’s next destination amidst strong reports that he is set for a summer departure from Old Trafford. Rumours that he is unsettled working under David Moyes consistently surface in the press, and support the idea that it is now a matter of when he will leave rather than if.

And it would appear that Arsenal are the bookies’ choice, particularly given the fact that Arsene Wenger is in the market for a big-name forward. With Olivier Giroud the only realistic option to lead the line at the Emirates fans are expecting a new hit-man to be bought in.

Of course there are others keeping a watchful eye on Van Persie's situation in Manchester, with Paddy Power placing Juventus at 7/2, Chelsea at 4/1 and even Bayern Munich at 5/1. Though the notion would have been laughed at less than a year ago, it would seem that Van Persie departing United having only lifted one major trophy is a distinct possibility.
