Andres Iniesta is perfect City signing for Silva

Manchester City playmaker David Silva has revealed that Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta would be his ideal signing.

The Spanish pair have often played together on the international stage, helping Vicente del Bosque’s side to two European Championships and a World Cup over the past six years.

And, playing alongside the 29-year-old at the Etihad Stadium would be an ideal scenario for Silva moving forward.

"If I could I would bring Andres Iniesta. I would love to play with him, not just with the Spanish squad,” he said, according to The Daily Express.

Manchester City had been linked with an audacious £200m move for Iniesta’s teammate, Lionel Messi, but manager Manuel Pellegrini dismissed it as little more than paper speculation.

Even that aforementioned figure might not be enough to prize the player away from the Nou Camp, according to Xavi at least, with the veteran telling clubs to forget about a possible mega-deal for the Argentine superstar.

"Of course there will always be stories about the best player in the world and in my opinion the best player ever - but Manchester City and any other team can forget about signing Messi,” he told

"There is no transfer fee that could make it a good deal for Barcelona - and as everybody who knows him knows - he loves the club and has made it clear he never wants to leave."

Whilst Silva might prefer to lure Iniesta from Barca, it’s unlikely that the La Liga giants would sell either to their Premier League rivals, as the pair prepare to go head-to-head in the Champions League tonight.
