John Elway thinks Broncos free agency is like dating

The Denver Broncos have been cleaning up in free agency so far.

After coming up short last season they have added DeMarcus Wade, T.J. Ward and Aqib Talib today alone as they seek to mount an unstoppable assault on Super Bowl XLIX.

Expectedly this dominance of the market has put general manager John Elway in a happy mood - and he had some words of advice to other NFL teams who might feel a little hard done by:

"I view free agency like dating, if you didn't want me to scoop them up then you should have treated them better," he was reported to have said today.

So there you have it.

NFL front offices take note.

If you want to keep hold of your star players all you have to do is follow Elway's lead and treat them right.

Maybe a candlelit dinner every now and then or the occasional bouquet of flowers is all that is needed.

The huge cash incentive held in front of players in free agency has nothing to do with it of course.

But regardless, with the work that he has managed to do so far for the franchise it looks like the legendary quarterback has still got it when it comes to smooth talking.
