Ellen Degeneres' celeb-laden selfie at the Oscars earlier this month attracted a lot of attention on social media. Twitter even went down for maintenance after the image was posted, but now the Chicago Bears are attempting to match it with an attempt of their own.
A collection of Bears players, including Jay Cutler, Brandon Marshall, Jermon Bushrod and Kyle Long posed for the picture on a boat while apparently on vacation at an undisclosed location.
The selfie was posted Bushrod's instagram account along with the caption: "I'm pretty sure our #BEARDOWNselfie is way better than Ellen's #OscarSelfie #ijs #beardown"
The Bears just missed out on the playoffs by one game last season in head coach, Marc Trestman's first year in charge. Cutler, who missed five games through injury has now signed a new contract and appears to be celebrating in true team spirit.
We're not sure if this show of camaraderie will relate to on-field success but Trestman and his coaching staff will be hoping they can bond together for their first playoff appearance since 2010.
