Manchester City are set to be crowned Premier League champions in May, reclaiming the domestic title from local rivals Manchester United, according to football statisticians at Bloomberg Sports.

Manuel Pellegrini's side have been tipped to finish first in England's top-flight in 2013/14, based on the outcome of a super computer, which uses a complex algorithm to predict sporting outcomes.

Experts suggest that this year's title race will go right to the wire, with the top four separated by just five points, while one of the three anticipated relegated sides will go down cruelly on goal difference.

City currently occupy fourth spot on 60 points - six behind leaders Chelsea - but with three games in hand over Jose Mourinho's men can return to the summit.

Bloomberg Sports experts suggest that Manchester City will finish the campaign with 84 points, meaning they require eight more wins from their remaining 11 games (or seven wins and three draws) to reach that total.
