CM Punk never to return? "I'm a totally new person"

WWE fans hoping to see CM Punk return to the organisation will have been dealt a definitive blow, after the former wrestler’s highly-anticipated T.V appearance last night.

Punk, real name Phil Brooks, made his first notable public appearance on The Walking Dead discussion show, The Talking Dead, Sunday, having been virtually off the radar since leaving the WWE around a month ago. Fans clamoured to tune in, in the hope of getting even the slightest hint that he would be returning to Vince McMahon’s company sooner rather than later. They were left disappointed.

Not only was Punk introduced by his birth name, but his byline made no mention of his wrestling career, preferring instead to show his Twitter handle. Furthermore, there was no mention of the WWE, or about his acrimonious exit, fuelling rumours that he is well and truly finished.

However the most damning verdict, at least for supporters hoping to see Punk return to the ring, would have most certainly been delivered when he told co-panellist Yvette Brown that he had become a “totally new person.” If that’s not a way of sending a message out then we don’t know what is.

Of course such is the nature of the WWE that this could all be some sort of ploy carefully structured and designed to achieve the maximum amount of publicity before the upcoming Wrestlemania. Do you think Punk’s exit is some sort of elaborate ruse? Or is he gone for good? Let us know in the comment box below.
