Manchester United target William Carvalho impressed visiting scouts greatly last night, as he excelled in his duties during Sporting Lisbon’s 1-0 victory over Porto.

According to Portuguese newspaper A Bola, Carvalho, who has a release clause of €45million, was in stellar form during his side’s victory yesterday, and turned in a performance that will have produced rave reports from the numerous scouts in attendance. It’s thought that representatives from United were joined by onlooker from Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Borussia Dortmund and Monaco at the Estadio Jose Alvalade, with all of them primarily there to watch the prodigious playmaker.

The youngster has long been on United’s radar, and it’s widely anticipated that David Moyes will look to make a move for him during this summer’s transfer window. Scouts have repeatedly been sent to view his progress and, with frequent performances catching the attention of the media, it’s likely that they will have sent glowing reviews back to Manchester.

However, interest in Carvalho is naturally high and so Moyes will have his work cut out for him if he is to convince the 21-year-old to join his cause. With Champions League football next season looking less of a possibility with each passing week, it may be that the Lisbon star opts to decline United in favour of somewhere else.
