Manchester United: Predicted XI v Olympiacos

Football News

Sunday's humiliating 3-0 defeat at the hands of fierce rivals Liverpool all but extinguished Manchester United's extremely faint hopes of finishing in the Premier League's top four this season.

Now, if the Reds are to qualify for next year's Champions League, they will essentially have to go on and win it this season.

Such a task could prove immensely difficult, given that they trail Olympiacos 2-0 from the first leg of their Round of 16 tie.

Manchester United welcome the Greek champions to Old Trafford for the all-important second leg on Wednesday and both David Moyes and his players should know exactly what is expected of them.

They have to win and win handsomely - it's that simple.

Behind by two with no away goals to rely upon, they must score three to make it through and pray that the mediocre visitors - who, admittedly, were very good indeed in the first match last month and matched their more illustrious opponents blow for blow - do not register on the scoresheet themselves.

In terms of team news for Manchester United, it must be extremely tempting for Moyes to make one or two changes following another woeful display that has seen his position become subject to further public scrutiny.

Spaniard Juan Mata is ineligible of course due to the fact that he represented Chelsea in the Champions League earlier this season, but captain Nemanja Vidic - who is set to leave the club this summer - is available despite his red card in the defeat to Liverpool.

So without further ado, here is how we see Moyes setting up his side for such an important fixture...

Manchester United predicted XI to face Olympiacos:

De Gea; Rafael, Jones, Vidic, Evra, Carrick, Fellaini; Valencia, Welbeck, Rooney; Van Persie.
