Manchester United are willing to part ways with up to €30 million in order to land Sporting Lisbon starlet William Carvalho, according to reports in Portugal.

The 21-year-old has seriously impressed during his breakthrough season with Sporting, and has featured in 22 league games, scoring twice.

According to Portuguese newspaper Record, Manchester United scouts have watched Carvalho in action no less than 15 times - the latest occasion coming during Sporting's game against Porto over the weekend.

The paper adds that they have been impressed with what they have seen, and are willing to offer up to €30 million in order to land their man in the summer.

According to reports, Carvalho has a release clause worth £37.5 million written into his contract - although Manchester United are unlikely to activate it. Inter Milan have also been linked with a move for the talented youngster.

Red Devils boss David Moyes is excepted to spend big in the upcoming summer transfer window as he looks to overhaul his squad following a disappointing campaign.

Moyes's side currently sit in 7th place in the Premier League and are in danger of going out of the Champions League at the hands of Olympiakos.

Previous reports have suggested that the Manchester United manager will be handed £200 million to sign new players and launch them back into the Premier League elite.
