LeBron James will not play tonight for the Miami Heat against the Boston Celtics.

With the game schedules less than 24-hours after his mammoth scoring display against former employers the Cleveland Cavaliers, the NBA star has been ruled out with a back spasm.

LeBron was on fire last night as he hit 42 points, including a record-equalling 25 in the first quarter as the Heat overcame the Cavs 100-96.

But there will be no chance of a repeat as he is ruled out alongside Greg Oden.

Dwyane Wade is listed as a starter however.

This won't be the first game LeBron has missed, after sitting out previously after fatigue issues and a broken nose, and the Heat should be ok without their star man as they come up against a Boston Celtics team who have lost their previous five.

The Miami Heat meanwhile are sitting second in the Eastern Conference with a 46-19 record.
