Jennifer Lawrence has nailed her colors to the mast as March Madness begins.

And it is no surprise who she is backing....

The reigning champions the Louisville Cardinals.

But don't mistake her for a glory seeker, the Hollywood star was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky.

The school's athletics social media director posted a picture to Twitter of Lawrence wearing a Cardinals shirt and holding up the famous 'L' today, and it is sure to have got the already popular star some bonus points with sports fans across the country.

March Madness is sure to dominate the nation for the next few days, and with the college basketball tournament a must-watch event there will no doubt be plenty more celebrity endorsements to come.

The number four ranked Cardinals begin their defense of the NCAA Tournament title tomorrow when they tip-off against Manhatten.

They won the 2013 tournament with a 87-82 win over the Michigan Wolverines.
