Bacary Sagna holds Galatasaray talks after Tottenham win

Representatives of Bacary Sagna held transfer talks with Galatasaray hours after he helped Arsenal to a 1-0 win over Tottenham on Sunday, reports the Daily Mail.

The Arsenal right-back is out of contract at the end of the season and has, so far, failed to agree an extension with the club. Sagna is believed to be seeking a three-year deal worth around £100,000-a-week, while Arsenal are only willing to offer a two-year deal worth £75,000-a-week.

Such a gap in negotiations means Sagna's departure from the Emirates Stadium is inevitable and he is already looking for new clubs for next season.

Turkish giants Galatasaray are believed to hold a strong interest in the 31-year-old and took advantage of their Champions League tie with Chelsea to try and seal a transfer.

Officials from Galatasaray met with Sagna's counterparts in London's swanky district of Mayfair on Sunday evening to try to broker a deal just hours after Sagna had kept a clean sheet for Arsenal in the north London derby.

Sagna would prefer to stay at Arsenal but wants to be rewarded for his loyalty over the last seven years. Sagna has turned down the chance to join other big clubs, sticking with the Gunners through a trophy-less period and never demanded a pay rise from his £60,000-a-week wage.

However, Arsenal are reluctant to offer a 31-year-old such a substantial contract with concerns over form, fitness and even motivation coming in to play when players surpass the 30 barrier.

Sagna has rejected two contract offers from Arsene Wenger so far and, with only three months to run on his current deal, is free to negotiate and sign a pre-contract with other clubs.

Monaco, Paris Saint-German and several Premier League clubs have also been accredited with an interest in recent weeks and are ready to offer Sagna a deal worth up to £20m in return for his services..
