Manchester United and Liverpool are the first in line to land Bayern Munich star Xherdan Shaqiri, should he leave his current club in the summer.

According to Italian source TuttoMercato, the English heavyweights could be sight to fight for the Swiss star, as rumours increasingly allude to the fact that he is set to leave the German giants. Though being considered as a top European talent, the 22-year-old has struggled to find regular game-time at the Allianz Arena under Pep Guardiola, and as such he may seek a move elsewhere.

Both United and Liverpool have been credited with a strong interest in him, as have Serie A giants Inter Milan. However TuttoMercato claims that the English pair may well be the frontrunners for his signature.

A move to either Old Trafford or Anfield may appeal to Shaqiri, who could see the Premier League as the ideal next challenge in his career. Of course, the fact that United are currently looking as though they may not be participating in the Champions League next season could be a deciding factor, as the youngster won’t want to miss out on Europe’s elite competition having already won it with Bayern.
