Richie Incognito may be ready to make a return to the NFL with some rumors linking the player to the Oakland Raiders, however the league may be about to stand in the lineman's way.

Incognito was handed a suspension by the Miami Dolphins last season and was forced to sit out eight games. According to the new labor agreement, the NFL is not allowed to force a player to sit for two suspensions for the same rule infraction.

However, according to Ian Rapoport of, Incognito may be subject to “comprehensive [evaluation] by NFL-NFLPA designated medical advisors.” If he were to fail any such evaluation, the league could step in to stop the player receiving salary or playing time.

It is understandable that the league would be concerned about the state of Incognito's mind considering the number of off the field incidents that the lineman has been involved in during his career.

Incognito also attended a rehabilitation facility during this offseason and attacked his own Ferrari in just the latest in a line of strange actions by the Miami Dolphin.

However, the league cannot be seen to be punishing Incognito just for the sake of it and will have to be consistent in the handling of the case and future similar cases.
