The Boston Bruins lost for the first time in 12 games on Monday night after the Montreal Canadiens got a shoot-out victory.

The shoot-out needed one extra round after the first three rounds all failed to produce a goal following some great saves from the two goalies.

Alex Galchenyuk got the game winning and streak ending goal with the final shot of the shoot-out.

The Canadiens had taken the lead in the first half period when Alexi Emelin took advantage of the power play to score the Canadiens only goal of regulation.

It took the Bruins till the third period for Patrice Bergeron to pull Boston back on level terms following the assists from Dougie Hamilton and Loui Eriksson.

The result means that the winning streak which started on March 2nd has now come to an end ahead of their game against the Chicago Blackhawks on Thursday night.

The Canadiens however, now have a game against the NHL's worst team this season the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday night and will be looking for similar results against their divisional rivals.
