Manchester United star Patrice Evra wanted by Juventus

Juventus have held talks with Patrice Evra over a potential move to Turin in recent weeks, reports French newspaper Le 10 Sport.

The Manchester United left-back is set to depart Old Trafford this summer after failing to agree an extension on his current £90,000-a-week deal. Evra is believed to be keen to move to mainland Europe with his family to finish what has been an illustrious career.

Inter MIlan were thought to be leading the race after they sealed the signature of Evra's team mate Nemanja Vidic but Juventus are ready to offer Evra another option.

Officials from the Serie A leaders have been in contact with Evra's representatives in recent weeks to gauge whether the French international would be interested in joining the Old Lady.

Of course Inter Milan are in a better position to offer superior wages with new owner Erick Thohir ready to spend big to get the San Siro giants back to the top of European football. However, Juventus represent a better chance for Evra to pick up more silverware before he retires.

It seems a certainty that he will not renew his Manchester United contract as David Moyes continues to scour Europe for a long-term replacement. Real Madrid's Fabio Coentrao has long been mooted as a target for the Red Devils but Southampton's Luke Shaw is emerging as the main target.

Moyes was linked with a £26m move for Shaw earlier this week, with the Sunday People saying the Manchester United manager will offer the massive sum to secure Shaw's move to Old Trafford before the World Cup starts on June 12.
