How did Eric Hosmer get ejected from a training game?

In most sports, being sent off in a friendly is quite the ignominy. But Eric Hosmer managed it in a Spring Training game with the Kansas City Royals earlier.

Playing the Seattle Mariners, Hosmer was very unhappy with the Umpire calling him for a third strike during the first inning.

Then two innings later, Hosmer went to walk on a fourth ball until umpire Brian Hertzog ruled it a third stoke and sent him on his way.

A few more words were exchanged, and Hosmer was ejected, leaving Royal manager Ned Yost to come out and have a few calm words of his own.

It rarely happens at all in any sport and it's even more unusual in baseball, making this quite the pre-season toy-pram-throwing episode.

The Royals will be visiting the Detroit Tigers on opening day this coming Monday and as the Spring Training part of the year winds up, we'll get to see who has got the stuff to make it this year and if any more people will do silly things before we even get going.
