Floyd Mayweather shoots Maidana commercial

Floyd Mayweather is a pretty busy man right now. As well as training intensely for his next fight against Argentina’s Marcos Maidana on May 3, the WBC welterweight champion has also been filming a commercial for the bout.

The commercial will premiere on Showtime in a few weeks time - Saturday April 19, to be specific - but a video showing the pound-for-pound king horsing around behind the scenes has been released before that.

Mayweather is seen arriving at the Showtime studios in his flashy car, saying some words to camera, entertaining the crew, showing off his jump rope skills and, well, just generally being Floyd Mayweather.

At one point he also wonders to himself whether he is pronouncing Maidana’s name correctly - although one must presume that’s an attempt to get into the head of his next opponent rather than a genuine oversight.

Mayweather is the overwhelming favourite to beat Maidana at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, but his South American opponent has made it clear that he firmly believes he can end the US boxer’s unbeaten record.
