FOX Sports 1 documentary UFC Presents Ronda Rousey: Breaking Ground picked up a Sports Emmy nomination this afternoon, giving the bantamweight champion another chance to compete amongst esteemed company for a top prize.

Rousey's absorbing backstory was fleshed out in full by the behind-the-scenes profile, which told the story of the Olympic Judo Medalist's swift rise to prominence and subsequent success in Strikeforce and the UFC.

The 27-year-old has won nine successive professional MMA bouts by stoppage, with eight of those successes coming by way of an armbar submission that is without question one of the most potent weapons in the sport today.

FOX Sports 1 used their deal with the UFC to produce a special look into how Rousey has coped with her meteoric rise to prominence, which the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences picked for special praise on their shortlist this afternoon.

Showtime, NBC and NBA TV also have features up for nomination in the category of Outstanding Sports Documentary, with LT: The Life and Times a strong candidate for the gong.

A breakdown of NFL lineback legend Laurence Taylor's career and personal turmoil leads the list of candidates, although Rousey's engaging story also gives Fox Sports 1 every chance of receiving a coveted Sports Emmy when the decision is announced on May 6th.
