The Miami Heat have been dealt an injury blow ahead of their crucial game against the Indiana Pacers tonight. Ray Allen has been listed as doubtful for the matchup as he recovers from a stomach virus.
The team tweeted out the following report earlier today: "Ray Allen (stomach virus) did not participate in this morning’s shootaround and is listed as doubtful for tonight’s #HEATgame."
It is expected that Dwyane Wade, who has struggled with injury himself this season, will start at the shooting guard whilst Toney Douglas will come off the bench for the bulk of Allen's minutes.
The veteran guard usually averages around 11 minutes per game and provides a legitimate perimeter shooting threat.
Allen was instrumental during the NBA Finals last season creating scoring opportunities for himself and teammates down the stretch. He even hit a game-tying three-pointer with five seconds left in game six to save the series.
However, the Heat will have to do without their services tonight as they aim to attack the Pacers' two-game lead in the Eastern Conference standings.
