Gregg Popovich insults San Antonio Spurs star over weight

San Antonio Spurs coach, Gregg Popovich has slammed Patty Mills over his shape and fitness last season.

Mills has been instrumental for the Spurs this year, averaging almost 10 points a game and hitting 40% from three-point field goals. However, when asked about whey he did not select him more in 2013 Popovich responded:

"He was a little fat ass. He had too much junk in the trunk. His decision making wasn’t great, and he wasn’t in great shape. He changed his entire body. He came back svelte and cut and understood you have to make better decisions, point-guard type decisions."

Popovich has never been afraid to speak his mind and is famous for giving short, curt answers to reports during games but even for the coaching legend these comments seem harsh.

Mills dropped his body fat this past offseason and is noticeably less bulky this season and has aided the Spurs in their recent run to the top of the conference.

The Spurs are three games ahead of the Oklahoma City Thunder in the conference and Mills has provided some valuable playing time off the bench whilst star Tony Parker takes some well-earned rest ready for the playoffs.
