Manchester United target Inigo Martinez has heightened speculation linking him with a move to the Premier League champions by favouriting a story regarding his future.

The Real Sociedad centre-back took to social network website Twitter to favourite a story which was tweeted by Sport Witness that links the Spaniard with a move to Old Trafford in the near future.

Martinez's latest activity on Twitter will hardly dampen talk of a move over his future as it could be seen as a major hint that he is keen on swapping Real Sociedad for Manchester United in the summer.

Manchester United boss David Moyes will be in the market for a new centre-back at the end of the season as Rio Ferdinand could join Nemanja Vidic in leaving the north-west giants in the summer.

Vidic, who is out of contract at the end of the season, has already agreed a deal to join Serie A outfit Inter Milan - while Ferdinand is likely to be allowed to leave on a free transfer.

Their exits would leave Moyes with just three out-and-out centre-backs in the form of Manchester United trio Chris Smalling, Phil Jones and Jonny Evans.
