San Francisco 49ers Cornerback Chris Culliver has been jailed after being involved in a felony hit-and-run with a bicyclist and is also facing weapons-possession charges.
Culliver was seen in the initial incident and then an eye witness followed his car until he pulled over as the brave citizen tried to prevent Culliver from leaving.
At which point, he pulled out a pair of illegal brass knuckles and threatened the witness before leaving and striking the witnesses car.
Police soon arrested Culliver for felony hit-and-run for striking the bicyclist, reckless driving causing an injury, felony possession of brass knuckles and misdemeanor hit-and run-for striking the vehicle.
The San Francisco 49ers issued a statement saying: "We will remain in contact with Chris and the local authorities as we continue to gather the facts regarding this situation."
Culliver missed the entirety of last season with a torn ACL and was expected to be a starting Cornerback for the 49ers this year- a position they would further strengthen in the NFL Draft.
Friday's events come as the latest damage to his reputation after he made anti-gay comments prior to Super Bowl XLVII.
It remains unclear what punishment Culliver will face and what impact it could have on his 49ers career.
