David Moyes claims to retain the support of the majority of Manchester United fans as the club’s manager prepares to face his most public humiliation since taking over as Sir Alex Ferguson’s successor.

A group of fans have hired an aircraft to fly a banner over Old Trafford calling for the sacking of Moyes when Manchester United face Aston Villa at Saturday lunchtime.

Manuel Pellegrini believes victory for his Manchester City side at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday will end any slim hopes Arsenal had of winning the Premier League title this season.

The Gunners have endured a difficult seven days, with a thumping by Chelsea followed by a draw against Swansea, and defeat to City will leave them six points behind their weekend opponents, who retain two games in hand.
