MLB betting: World Series odds on Opening Day

The long winter is over and Opening Day has arrived much to the delight of fans of Major League Baseball.

Although we have already seen the Los Angeles Dodgers take the field against the Arizona Diamondbacks in Australia before losing to the San Diego Padres on American soil, the season doesn't officially begin until today.

It is, therefore, more fitting than ever to highlight the odds for this season's World Series winners.

As expected, the Dodgers are still favourites at 6/1. Judging by their huge payroll, a World Series should be the least the benefactors expect.

The St Louis Cardinals have been backed to make up for their disappointment in 2013 and are ranked second favourites at 8/1.

Meanwhile after a summer of heavy spending, the New York Yankees are still further down the list than we are used to seeing them at a lowly 14/1 while Boston are 13/1 to retain their title.
