Fair play to LeBron James.
He tried to get in on the April Fools Day fun this afternoon, but his unoriginal prank failed to convince many people - even in the notoriously gullible world of social media.
Just a day after Sacramento Kings' DeMarcus Cousins fooled the vast majority of us with an elaborate prank proclaiming he would release an R&B single (complete with mock up CD), the Miami Heat star followed a similar theme when he posted the following message on Twitter:
"I will be coming out with my mixtape April 16th. Feature on it Jay-Z, Drake, Ross, Meek, Juicy J, Kendrick, Snoop, and many more. King Me," he told followers at around 2.30pm ET today.
Unfortunately, even though he is one of the biggest names in sport, not even LeBron could get such a stellar list of music stars to come together on one album and his claims failed to get many laughs.
And just in case we hadn't already figured that out, James couldn't contain himself for too long before revealing the big joke:
"April Fools! HAHAHA," he posted to Twitter just 40 or so minutes after his original message.
James will turn his attentions to his day job tomorrow night when the Miami Heat face the Milwaukee Bucks.
