Their Champions League quarter-final may still be a few hours away but Chelsea already have the upper-hand over Paris Saint-Germain - at least on Facebook.

The two European giants will go head to head in the first leg of their last eight tie at the Parc des Prince this evening, with punters split over who will come out on top.

However when it comes to picking out who was the victor on social media, Chelsea's team undoubtedly strolled to an easy victory.

PSG's social media team initiated the battle, posting a Facebook picture showing a football with the club's logo on in front of the Eiffel Tower, asking "Chelsea, can you do this?"

Chelsea were quick to respond with their own image by posting an image of a Chelsea football in front of Big Ben with the message - "Paris, can you do this?"

However Chelsea had the last word on the matter and reached for their trump card - posting the same message as before but with an image of American actor Will Ferrell clutching the Champions League trophy they won so dramatically in 2012.

PSG posted a picture of David Beckham playing for the club last season along with the message aimed at Chelsea - but the Blues had already wrapped up the victory.

The pre-game banter is likely to be replaced by something altogether more serious as both teams look to make it to the semi-finals of the Champions League.

The Ligue 1 giants are bidding for their first final four appearance since 1995, while Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is looking to scoop his first European crown in west London.
