FC Dallas have made an incredible start to the 2014 MLS season. The Toros are unbeaten through their first four games and new manager Oscar Pareja couldn't have asked for a better start.

A large part of their success so far is due to the arrival of their newest star, Mauro Diaz.

The former River Plate midfielder has been exemplary in the number ten position, and his great play has been rewarded with the inaugural Etihad Airways Player of the Month award, for the month of March.

The playmaker romped to success, rightfully garnering a mammoth 63% of the vote.

The 23-year old beat out Michael Bradley (Toronto FC), Will Bruin (Houston Dynamos), Federico Higuain (Columbus Crew) and Nick Rimando (Real Salt Lake) to take home the honours.

Diaz has been the most influential catalyst in a Dallas offense which is the best in the league.

In four matches this season, Diaz has notched up two goals and one assist, including a brilliant free kick on the opening day of the season and a quick turn and shot that proved to be the winner against the Portland Timbers this past weekend.

Nick Rimando was miles behind the maestro in second place with 18% and Michael Bradley rounded out the top three with just 8%.

They say that everything is bigger in Texas, but it is the diminutive midfielder that is shining bright this season.
