Manchester United and Chelsea will continue to monitor Anderlecht starlet Wout Faes after the youngster signed his first contract with the club, according to The Daily Mail

Faes, who is a Belgian under-17 international, was in fine form in the recent European U17 Championships in Scotland, and now it appears that the Premier League's elite clubs will continue to monitor his progress.

However, with the defender having just committed his future with Anderlecht, Manchester United and Chelsea may have a long wait before tempting him to the Premier League.

With Faes a long term option for both Premier League giants, it remains to be seen as to whether Manchester United and Chelsea make a move for any other defenders in the upcoming summer window.

Manchester United are certainly expected to make a number of signings in the next window after a disastrous season. The Red Devils currently sit in seventh place in the Premier League and look set to miss out on Champions League qualification.

Both United and Chelsea are in action this weekend, as David Moyes takes his Manchester United side to St James' Park to take on Newcastle, meanwhile Chelsea host Stoke City at Stamford Bridge and will be desperate to bounce back after suffering a 3-1 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League quarter-final last night.
