Liverpool stars Luis Suarez and Philippe Coutinho are being courted by Real Madrid ahead of a monumental summer transfer switch, according to FIFA agent Francois Gallardo.

According to French newspaper Le 10 Sport, which cites an interview coming from Spanish website La Sexta, Gallardo claims to have knowledge that Madrid have made contact over a potential summer move for the Anfield pair which will cost them €80million. The report makes no mention of whether these approaches have been to the club or players in question, but one would assume that they’re evidence of negotiations between Madrid and Liverpool chiefs.

Gallardo told La Sexta: “Liverpool have players that tempt Real Madrid, they are: On one side, Luis Suarez and the other Coutinho.

“Madrid has initiated negotiations for the next season. The cost of the operation should be around €80 million.”

As far as the interest in Suarez is concerned, the latest updates may not come as too much of a surprise to Reds fans. Los Blancos expressed a definite intent to sign the Uruguayan last summer, and it many will have been expecting them to try again at the next available opportunity. The idea of Coutinho being targeted may have some worried however, as he’s the type of player who could be swayed by the bright lights of the Santiago Bernabeu.

Of course it must be noted that Gallardo is a serial offender when it comes to spreading eye-catching transfer rumours, and so how much truth there is in these specific claims is open to individual interpretation.
