Tennessee Titans want a new starting quarterback

Jake Locker really does need to be at his best in the upcoming NFL season, or he'll be out of a job before too long.

Locker was taken with the 8th pick in the 2011 draft out of Washington. Unfortunately for the Titans he hasn't played anywhere near to the level they would've hoped and they haven't been near the playoffs during his three seasons.

New head coach Ken Whisenhunt knows how poor he has been in recent times and has admitted he may well be looking for a new starting quarterback in this years draft.

“You always have to be prepared because you never know what can happen,” Whisenhunt said to The Tennessean.

“If there is an opportunity in this draft where you have a guy you think is really good, then you have to look at it. But more importantly you have to look at 2-3 years down the road.

“It is about finding out about these guys. And then, if you don’t have them on your team, you know about them. And if something happens down the road you’ll have an important piece.”

Tennessee refused to take up their team option on Locker for 2015 meaning this could well be his last season with the Titans.

The Titans hold the 11th pick in the draft this year but it is unlikely they will take one there with multiple teams with a bigger need ahead of them.

However if any of the big three of Johnny Manziel, Teddy Bridgewater and Blake Bortles drop down; Whisenhunt and the other higher ups may have a big decision on their hands.

A pick in one of the later rounds seems like a more obvious choice.
