Liverpool have set their transfer sights on Chelsea target Lazar Markovic, according to reports.

The Sunday People claims Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is eager to add the Serbian starlet, but may have to pay £20million to bring the player to England in the summer transfer window.

And, whilst the paper cites rumours in the player's homeland that a deal to join the Blues has already been agreed, it goes on to claim that the Reds believe the 20-year-old is an ideal addition for next season's probable stint in the Champions League.

Liverpool have been doing pretty well with their current squad this season, with manager Rodgers guiding the club to the very summit of the table - and victory on Sunday would see them return to top spot.

Whilst winning the title isn't a certainty, a place in next season's Champions League is looking increasingly likely for the Reds, and Markovic would add some depth ahead of that European challenge at Anfield.

The winger is one of four or five youngsters on the Liverpool radar, the report claims, although Rodgers will know he faces a battle to secure the signature.

That comes from Chelsea, who have been keeping tabs on the player for years.

Jose Mourinho has overseen a number of changes since taking the reigns last summer, but continues to put his faith in youth with the likes of Oscar and Eden Hazard in the Blues' midfield.

And, 'the Special One' is expected to be busy in the market once again at Stamford Bridge this summer, with Markovic a name that could be moving to Chelsea if their rivals can't secure a deal.
