Manchester United manager David Moyes is targeting a £15m summer move for Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin and has detailed his top scouts to keep a close watch on the Frenchman for the rest of the season, according to The Mirror.

Schneiderlin has been quietly consistent for Saints over the last two Premier League seasons, an integral part of one of most exciting young sides in the country alongside other impressive performers in Luke Shaw and Adam Lallana.

Saints are used to speculation in their top stars but United's interest in Schneiderlin gives them a fresh transfer battle to fight this summer, with Moyes possessing the financial clout to spend big on his top targets in a bid to overhaul his struggling squad after a difficult first season in charge at Old Trafford.

Moyes is believed to have identified signing an energetic, combative midfield general ahead of next season and Schneiderlin fits the bill on that front, with a price tag believed by The Mirror to be in the region of £15m.

The 24-year-old has more than three years on his current contract, which puts Saints in a strong position to keep a key figure on the South Coast if they wish.

Despite previously being linked with the likes of Arsenal the potential future candidate for an international switch to England has been with Saints for nearly six years, building a reputation as a midfield enforcer with style and fair to match his work rate.

While the likes of Lallana and Shaw continue to be linked with the Premier League's leading lights Untied are confident that any swoop for Schneiderlin will be successful, if scout reports from Red Devils staff continue to be favourable.
