Wolfsburg striker Ivica Olic could barely believe his luck when he managed to hit the crossbar twice in under half a second during his side's 2-1 defeat against Borussia Dortmund over the weekend.

The Croatian had opened the scoring in the game at the Westfalenstadion, but could do little as Dortmund struck back with goals from Robert Lewandowski and Marco Reus.

We say he could do little - what we mean is that he could have done a whole lot if he'd have just put the ball into the net while less than six yards from goal.

Sliding in to tap home a ball from the right-hand side, Olic somehow sent his effort crashing against the bar with the goalkeeper nowhere to be seen.

Then, to make matters worse, the ball rebounded off the woodwork and back onto the striker, only to cannon back onto the frame and clear of the goal.

While he could have done better with his first effort, the Croatian must be the unluckiest striker in Europe to see his 'second attempt' somehow avoid hitting the back of the net.
