Kevin Costner is busy promoting his new movie 'Draft Day' ahead of it's release later this week - and it looks like the movie star has taken his role as an NFL General Manager to heart.

Costner, this weekend, spoke out in support of one of the most hyped prospects in this year's real-world NFL draft - Johnny Manziel.

And he is confident that the former Texas A&M quarterback is set for a stellar pro career.

"I don't give a crap what anyone says about the negatives with him," Costner told MMQB.

"He'll play, and we'll see. There's a lot of drama in him. The guy's a winner."

The two-time Oscar winner is certainly used to success and has identified Johnny Football as one player who can find it in the pros.

The ex-Aggie is known to have a cohort of celebrity fans and associates, ranging from Drake to LeBron James, and it looks like he can now add Kevin Costner to that list.

But Manziel is a figure who polarizes analysts and fans alike, with his undoubtable talent contrasting with question marks over his stature and off-the-field antics.

After an impressive pro-day he has re-established himself as a potential number one pick at Radio City in May and he will be hoping that those who actually hold the power in NFL team front offices share Costner's faith in his football ability.
