Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois is 'guaranteed' a starting place at Chelsea with manager Jose Mourinho unhappy with certain performances produced by current number one Petr Cech, claims the representative of Fernando Torres.

Belgian starlet Courtois - who signed for the Blues from Genk back in 2011 - has yet to make a single appearance for his parent club, yet has positively thrived during a near three-year loan spell with Atletico Madrid.

His sensational form in La Liga has led to much speculation over his future, with Atletico and fierce rivals Real Madrid both linked with permanent moves for Courtois, with other rumours even suggesting that he would sign an extended deal with Chelsea before joining Los Rojiblancos on a temporary basis for a fourth time.

However, according to Antonio Sanz, the player looks to be heading back to Stamford Bridge next season to assume the mantle of Mourinho's new number one.

"The coach, very displeased with the performances of the Czech keeper in the key matches of the season, has made it clear to the Chelsea directors that it is a moment for change," Sanz told a Spanish website in an interview that was quoted by The Sun.

“That they cannot neglect the best keeper. That the time to prove his worth is over for Courtois. That he must be Chelsea’s starting keeper in the 2014-15 season. And he made that known to him. A starting place is guaranteed.”

If indeed such words are true, then it would appear to totally extinguish any chance either Real Madrid - who have replaced the iconic Iker Casillas with Diego Lopez over recent months - or Atletico have of enticing Courtois to Spain on a full-time basis.

Such a move would surely also throw the future of Cech into some doubt. A club legend and stalwart who first joined from Rennes in 2004, he has remained first-choice at Stamford Bridge ever since.

Having comeback from a severe head injury, the Czech Republic international has won three Premier League titles, four FA Cups and the Champions League during a highly-successful decade in English football.
