Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola has praised Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney ahead of his side's Champions League quarter-final second leg clash with the Premier League champions.

The game is nicely poised ahead of the return leg, after Bayern and United played out a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford last week.

And ahead of the game at The Allianz Arena, reported by the Manchester Evening News, Guardiola has payed the ultimate compliment to Rooney labelling him one of the best he's seen.

In his pre-match press conference, the Bayern boss said Rooney is: "A big player, one of the best I have seen in my career."

Manchester United fans will be hoping to see Rooney take to the field tomorrow night after the forward picked up a knock against the German outfit last week.

The striker consequently missed Manchester United's 4-0 victory over Newcastle United this past weekend, but could feature against Guardiola's side.

With Champions League qualification looking in major doubt for David Moyes' side, Manchester United may have to win the competition in order to secure a place with Europe's elite clubs next season.

Rooney and Co. will certainly have to be at their best tomorrow evening if they're to secure in the semi-final of the competition.
