Accoridng to an exclusive report from TMZ Sports, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick is being investigated by police for a possible sexual assault at a hotel in Miami.

From the TMZ report:

"We're told the alleged incident took place at the Viceroy Hotel in Miami earlier this month.

Our sources tell us ... the investigation is in its "beginning stages" and no charges have been filed against anyone at this point."

No other details have been released at this point, and the 49ers themselves confirmed that they are also scrambling for all the facts.

The 49ers released the following statement from GM Trent Baalke saying, “The 49ers organization is aware of the recent media report regarding Colin Kaepernick and is in the process of gathering the pertinent facts.”

One of the best young quarterbacks in the NFL, Kaepernick has led the 49ers to one Super Bowl appearance against the Baltimore Ravens in 2012, before reaching the AFC Championship this year against the eventual champs the Seattle Seahawks.

The 26-year old, out of the University of Nevada, is also in a contract year and will be hoping for a big new deal with the Niners. The outcome of this investigation could have a massive impact on what happens in those negotiations.

Kaep was in Miami last week training, according to his Instagram account. He hasn’t updated it since April 6th, and has been quiet on Twitter since April 7th, according to The Big Lead.
