Given that they are mostly paid vast sums of money for playing a sport they love, one can often be forgiven for not always feeling particularly sympathetic towards the professional problems experienced by footballers.
However, with another transfer window quickly appearing on the horizon and the rumour mill being cranked back into overdrive, it must often be quite difficult for players to remain totally focused knowing that they could be on the move in just a matter of weeks.
In particular, it must be doubly tough for those who realise that they have not been performing to an acceptable standard or have to contend with the increasingly intense speculation that they could be replaced by someone better, more suited or indeed more expensive.
So, with the summer market obviously set to open for business once again at the end of the campaign, we thought we would take a look at eight Premier League players who, if various pieces of transfer tittle-tattle are to be taken as gospel, find their current places in their respective squads under considerable threat ahead of next season.
