Former San Diego Chargers and Buffalo Bills Linebacker Shawne Merriman is preparing to sue international sports brand Nike.
Merriman developed the nickname 'Lights Out' during his playing career and even developed a dance to go along with it.
The name stems from his high school playing days in which he knocked out four opponents in one game.
Following his retirement from the NFL, Merriman has had his fair share of legal problems, despite that he began to market his own company, Lights Out LLC.
Nike have recently released the Lights Out range of clothing which Merriman claims violates his trademark.
Merriman has made the trademark official by previously securing federal rights to the Lights Out trademark and could now be looking to sue Nike for $2 million per item.
Nike were negotiating with Merriman for a Lights Out brand back in 2006 but the plans fell through.
Merriman has recently signed with wrestling entertainment company the WWE and will no doubt be in the spotlight a lot over the coming months.
