Average player earnings: £24,995,540

Despite the marquee signing of Neymar last summer, Lionel Messi remains Barcelona's highest paid player, but has seen his salary at Camp Nou eclipsed by Cristiano Ronaldo's latest deal at Real Madrid.

Los Blancos are widely regarded as the big-spenders in Spain, but the Catalan club actually pay their players more than their La Liga rivals, with numerous first-team stars like Xavi, Andres Iniesta, Cesc Fabregas, Carles Puyol to name but a few all earning six-figure salaries.

With an average wage just shy of £25million over five years, Barcelona are the highest paying club in world football.
