Paolo Nutini claims he is a better Manchester United manager than the beleaguered David Moyes - something he can prove given his performances at the club’s helm having usurped the current boss on Football Manager.

Moyes has endured a horrid season since succeeding Sir Alex Ferguson last summer, with Manchester United relinquishing their league title and also their position in the division’s coveted top four places.

There are persistent reports that Manchester United are considering a change in manager for the second successive season, with Netherlands coach Louis van Gaal the favourite to replace Moyes at Old Trafford. Nutini, though, reckons he could offer an alternative option for the Manchester United owners.

“I’m in the depths of a season actually,” Nutini told the Daily Star about his gaming obsession.

“I just needed to take on the challenge of Manchester United manager this time around. And it’s going better than Moyes, I’m sorry.”

But Nutini does add that he believes Moyes is a ‘fantastic manager’ and will prove as success at Manchester United if he is given time. Nutini, meanwhile, is set to reach No.1 in the album charts this week following the release of his latest LP, Caustic Love.
