Real Madrid are ready to sell Karim Benzema in order to generate funds for a huge bid for Luis Suarez, reports the Daily Express.

President Florentino Perez is intent on building the best strike force in world football and believes Suarez, alongside Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo, will achieve such a feat.

Suarez is now considered one of the best strikers in the world after firing 30 goals in as many games, propelling Liverpool to within touching distance of a famous Premier League triumph.

As Uefa’s Financial Fair Play stipulations come into play, Real Madrid are aware that they will have to generate funds before launching a bid for Suarez. Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers will demand an astronomical bid for his prize asset.

In order to keep the books balanced, Real Madrid are prepared to sell French international Benzema and Arsenal remain favourites for his signature.

Benzema was strongly linked with a move to the Gunners last season but Arsene Wenger chose to concentrate all his efforts on signing Mesut Ozil from the same club instead.

But Arsenal’s lack of quality up front has cost them more than once this season and a striker in the bracket of Benzema could have been the difference between winning and losing the Premier League title.

Benzema’s contract is set to expire in 12 months time and Real Madrid are not prepared to offer his a long-term deal after his inconsistent form over the last few seasons.

Real Madrid are still willing to keep Jese Rodriguez despite his knee injury but want a new first-choice striker in the form of Suarez. Benzema has rediscovered some of his best form this season but financial regulations make keeping Benzema and signing Suarez a virtually impossibility.

Although selling Benzema to Arsenal should prove quite easy, convincing Suarez to leave Anfield, where he is now settled after agreeing a new long-term contract, will be a big obstacle to overcome.
