The penultimate Raw before Extreme Rules kicked off with Daniel Bryan making his Raw return. He made his way down the ramp to meet his new wife Brie in the ring. Stephanie then interrupted and said she was out to congratulate them both.

She said because WWE was a family she wanted to get him a wedding present, which was him against Kane at Extreme Rules for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. He then told him Kane said he would eviscerate him last week and he should get Brie out of the way.

Kane’s music hit and Stephanie told him to stay where he was, it wasn’t the right time and Daniel rolled out of the ring but Kane came out of the crowd and attacked Bryan then went after Brie but Daniel attacked from behind and the two went at it. Stephanie kept yelling at him to stop but he tomb-stoned Daniel on the floor.

Kane hadn’t finished there as he dragged Daniel onto the steel steps and delivered another tombstone on the steel.

Stephanie called for the medics but Daniel didn’t move and Kane walked away she then watched on as Daniel was put on a stretcher Kane returned and knocked him off before ripping off his neck brace and dragging him over to the announce table and delivering a final epic tombstone leaving Bryan lying in his wake.

Stephanie then called him a bastard and he walked away leaving the medics again to help Daniel, Brie returned to his side as he was wheeled out of the arena on a stretcher. Stephanie then called for a round of applause for the champion whilst holding his titles in the ring.

Bad News Barrett v Sheamus (Semi-final match in the Intercontinental Championship number one contender’s tournament)

Barrett made his entrance before telling the audience he had some bad news, he said his news wasn’t as bad as Daniel Bryan's but this is the day that Sheamus is defeated by Bad News Barrett.

Barrett opened the match kicking Sheamus and backing him into the corner but he fought out and pushed Barrett’s head against the ropes before delivering a rolling senton.

Sheamus climbed the ropes but Barrett climbed after him but Sheamus knocked him down and to the outside before landing the cross-body on the outside. Sheamus then threw Barrett back into the ring and went for the 10 beats of the Bourin but Barrett countered and sent him into the turnbuckle before a kick to the face knocked him off the apron.

Raw returned with Barrett still in charge of the match up but Sheamus fought out and hit a slam before the double axe handle to the face followed by the 10 beats of the Bourin for the first near fall of the match-up.

It was then announced that Hugh Jackman would be the guest host of Raw next week.
The audience were then told they would pick John Cena’s opponent tonight and Bray Wyatt appeared.

He talked about truth and its taste being bitter, but freewill is man’s biggest illusion because they give it to us then take it away. He said tonight would be a wonderful night for change, tonight free will does exist because the WWE Universe has the choice.

He asked, will tonight be the night Cena finally learns the truth? The truth is that they stand against you. And at Extreme Rules two monsters will enter the steel cage but one thing will remain the same, they don’t love John anymore and every time they cross paths he takes more of them with him.

Los Matadores v 3MB ( with Torito and Hornswoggle)

Hornswoggle and Torito were tagged in to start the match up, the two exchanged slaps before Torito hit the hurracanrana and a springboard shoulder block. BACKSTAGE: Batista, Triple H and Randy Orton arrived in a limo and headed to the ring.

The three men headed to the ring, all dressed in suits, talking about The Shield and the fact that this is just the beginning. Orton said that one spark set everything in motion and one careless act by The Shield set in the gears of their destruction.

A video of Evolution’s history was played and Batista asked if it was coming clear, the three of them had 31 world titles between them and The Shield has no idea what they have got themselves into. Before The Shield’s music hit….

The Hounds of Justice made their way to the ring and Evolution made their exit. Dean told them that last week wasn’t the first time they’ve been beaten up and it won’t be the last, he told them they did a real good number on him, before asking Triple H if they looked humbled.
He said there was a reason he hired them to protect him and “that little cream puff” Randy Orton. He said he knows The Shield are the most ruthless animals in this industry, these dogs are hungry and now these dogs are angry.

Seth told him to take it easy and said they have the right to be angry after what they did last week, he said they started this and they know what they have got into. He said they talk about how they were built for dominance and in two weeks they will come face to face with the Hounds of Justice it will be an all out war and they will all be looking out for themselves not Evolution.

He said the reunion of Evolution will come to an end in two weeks because when Triple H made the match, he put a nail in his own coffin and at Extreme Rules they will be the hammer that drives it home.

Roman then stepped up and told them he is gonna drop that mic, head up that ramp and beat their asses, they have two options, try to fight as men or cower away like cream puffs.
The Shield headed up the ramp and the WWE Locker room came out to back Evolution. Triple H said there was always an option three, he said in life either you adapt or you perish.
Michael Cole said the medical update on Daniel Bryan was that he was having scans on his neck at a local medical centre in Baltimore.

RVD hit a springboard superkick followed by a rolling monkey flip but Cesaro got the suplex for a near fall. Van Dam was then bounced off the steel post.

Raw returned with Cesaro still on top as he countered a sunset flip and jumped on RVD’s chest and a gut wrench slam for another near fall.

RVD fought back out and hit rolling thunder for a near fall of his own, followed by a super-kick from the top rope. RVD climbed up for the five-star-frog-splash but Cesaro countered with an uppercut but RVD kicked him down again and hit the split legged moon-sault for another near fall.

Cesaro hit a gut wrench power-bomb out of nowhere for a two count before calling for the swing but Jack Swagger provided the distraction and RVD kicked Cesaro in the face and knocked him to the outside, Van Dam tried to take advantage but Cesaro hit another upper-cut and rolled Rob back into the ring.

Swagger bounced Cesaro off the ring post without the official knowing and the referee counted him out and RVD got the win to progress.

After the match Swagger continued to attack Cesaro but Swagger was thrown to the outside and Cesaro went after Zeb and went for the swing but Swagger made the save and received the sting instead.

BACKSTAGE: Rob Van Dam was with Renee and was interrupted by Cesaro and Heyman and they told him that he couldn’t beat him on his own so he should thank Swagger and Colter for the win. He said the RVD he knew would never have taken such a win because unlike him his conscience was clear. RVD then said if Cesaro wanted to make it in this business he should keep his house, wallet and future far away from Heyman.

Aksana v Paige

Paige got the kick to the mid-section followed by a springboard sunset flip for a two count. Aksana then put Paige on the top rope before throwing her off and hitting a suplex.

Aksana had an answer to all of Paige’s offence and delivered a side slam before Paige began the fight back but again Aksana grounded her with a spine buster. But Paige fought back and hit a kick to the face before locking in the Scorpion Cross Lock for the submission win.

Alexander Rusev v Sin Cara

Sin Cara used his quickness in the opening exchanges but was caught in mid-air and delivered the knees to the gut before throwing him over his head.

Sin Cara went for the head scissors but Rusev countered and Cara countered into a pining combination, followed by kicks and a missile drop kick but Rusev hit the shoulder block and a gut wrench slam before he locked in the accolade for the submission win.

John Cena was out to find out what the WWE Universe had decided his fate would be. It was announced he would be facing all three members of the Wyatt family in a three-on-one handicap match.

John Cena v Luke Harper, Eric Rowan and Bray Wyatt

All three members of The Wyatt family ran in and attacked Cena and surrounded him in the corner. The referee then called for the bell and Harper started the match up kneeing John in the face. Harper then took him over to the wrong corner and tagged in Eric Rowan and he hit a slam before taking Cena head first off the turnbuckle.

Rowan then hit the throw away slam and tagged in Bray who danced around with Cena before throwing him to the floor and tagging out to Harper. Cena tried to build momentum but Harper knocked him down.

Harper went for the super plex but Cena fought out and knocked Harper off the ropes before landing the DDT. Bray tagged in and started to punch Cena over and over before throwing him shoulder first into the post and punching his head off it.

Rowan then tagged in but Cena sent him shoulder first into the post, Bray got the tag and did the scary spider thing but Cena got the clothesline before knocking Harper and Rowan off the apron and went for the five knuckle shuffle on Bray, dumped Harper over the ropes and hit the AA on Bray but Harper and Rowan made the save and the referee called for the bell.

Harper and Rowan continued the beat down after the match and Bray delivered Sister Abigail before cradling Cena and saying “in time all things come to light” and sang he’s got the whole world in his hands as Raw went off the air.

So, Cody Rhodes v Goldust could become a reality, either RVD or Bad News Barrett will fight for the IC title at next week's pay-per-view, but will Daniel Bryan even make it there?

Next week's Raw promises to be explosive as it's the final stop on the way to the most extreme pay-per-view event of the year!
