Arsenal are ready to make Louis van Gaal their new manager, with the future of Arsene Wenger still uncertain.

According to Dutch publication Voetbal International, the Gunners hierarchy are ready to rival Manchester United for the services of the coach.

Wenger - despite verbally insisting he wants to stay at the north London outfit - runs out of contract at the end of the season and is yet to sign a new deal with the club.

And, if reports are to be believed, Arsenal are now targeting Van Gaal as the man to replace him.

This will come as a surprise to some, with Manchester United having been heavily linked with the Dutch coach after the club sacked David Moyes this morning.

It remains to be seen as to whether Van Gaal would be interested in a move to Manchester United or Arsenal, but this summer looks set to be a busy one for the Dutch coach.

Van Gaal will lead the Dutch national side into the World Cup this summer, but could well be entering the Premier League scene ahead of next season.
