The bookies have slashed the odds on Manchester United appointing Jose Mourinho as their new manager, reports The Daily Star

If reports are to be believed, some punters are putting as much as £200 down on 'The Special One' taking over at Old Trafford this summer.

His odds on joining the Premier League champions have dropped from 40/1 to 7/1 over the last 36 hours, with Louis van Gaal and Carlo Ancelotti currently ahead of the Blues boss in the pecking order.

Mourinho was tipped to join Manchester United last summer, before he opted to return to Stamford Bridge, however it remains to be seen as to whether the hierarchy at The Theatre of Dreams try and tempt him with a move to the club.

Chelsea and Manchester United have both had very different seasons, with the Blues still in the Premier League title race and on course to reach the Champions League final.

Meanwhile, United have had a disastrous campaign, sitting in seventh place in the Premier League table - which consequently led to the sacking of David Moyes.

Manchester United fans, do you want Mourinho as the club's new boss?

Chelsea fans, do you really think Mourinho would leave for United?
