Manchester United make official bid for Bundesliga star

Manchester United have made an official offer for Schalke 04 left-back Sead Kolasinac, and view him as an alternative to Luke Shaw. At least that’s the rumour emanating from the player’s home nation of Bosnia.

Bosnian source Reprezentacija have claimed that the reigning Premier League champions have approached the German club over a summer deal for Kolasinac as they continue their hunt for a new full-back, and could be successful due to Schalke’s need for money. It’s claimed that it would take at least €5million to prise the 20-year-old away from the Bundesliga club, but this figure pales in comparison to the £30million wanted by Southampton for Shaw.

The young Bosnia international, who has been capped twice and may well be heading to this year’s World Cup in Brazil, is tipped to have a bright future in the game and Reprezentacija claim that Schalke are keen on keeping him, with his value set to rise if he does in fact represent his national side this summer.

However it does also state that United’s position as one of the world’s most reputable clubs could be a factor in forcing the move through, and with the £200million transfer kitty rumoured to be available to whomever becomes their next full-time manager, the Old Trafford outfit have more than enough money to test Schalke’s resolve if need be.
