NBA teams Chicago Bulls and the Houston Rockets are done in the NBA playoffs as they look set to fail this post-season, or at least that's what history suggests anyway.

Both teams finished as the fourth seed in their respective conferences, but now each of them are staring down the barrel of a gun at two nothing down in the first round.

Despite being the team that won the most regular season games in the Eastern Conference since the turn of the year, the Bulls are in a desperate situation against the Washington Wizards.

The Rockets are in a similar situation against the Portland Trail Blazers, with tonight acting as a huge test for both of the winless playoff teams.

But history suggests that both of the sides are doomed regardless.

According to the stats, only three teams have progressed through from the first round of the NBA playoffs when they have trailed 0-2.

It seems that history is against both teams, and tonight might just be penultimate nail in the coffin for each team's 2013/14 season.
