Arsenal: Predicted XI to face Newcastle

Arsenal produced a display akin to their early season promise in their last outing against Hull City, with the north London club playing with a verve and confidence not seen for a number of weeks.

Aaron Ramsey scored his first goal since November while Lukas Podolski netted a brace and Mesut Ozil made his return to the starting line-up. It was a win that enabled Arsenal to maintain their place in the top four, and they can reinforce their position against Newcastle on Monday.

With Everton having lost to Southampton at the weekend, victory over Newcastle at the Emirates Stadium will move Arsenal four points clear of Everton with two games remaining. And it appears Arsene Wenger will task the same players who beat Hull with doing the same this evening.

This means a second start in succession for Ramsey for the first time since December, with the Wales international having missed almost four months of action after sustaining an injury against West Ham on Boxing Day.

Arsenal significantly missed Ramsey during that time, with the club riding high near the league’s summit when he initially suffered his thigh problem. He is likely to prove vital to any success against Monday’s visitors.

The selection of the same team would also mean Ozil makes his first start in front of the Arsenal fans since the Gunners memorably dispatched of Everton in the FA Cup last eight, with the club since able to reach the final in his absence.

Arsenal predicted XI to face Newcastle…

Wojciech Szczesny; Bacary Sagna, Per Mertesacker, Laurent Koscielny, Nacho Monreal; Mikel Arteta, Aaron Ramsey; Santi Cazorla, Mesut Ozil, Lukas Podolski; Olivier Giroud.
